AccessCare is a network of primary care physicians committed
to providing the highest quality medical care for the Medicaid population of
North Carolina. One of the tools they provide to physicians is a Palm PoweredTM
drug lookup system named DrugBook which contains information on 1700
prescription drugs. This tool gives physicians the ability to quickly access
drug information, including pricing and safety data, on their handhelds.
DrugBook's pricing information allows physicians to easily compare similar drugs
and provide a more cost-effective prescription to patients. Pricing for several
different insurers was loaded into the system, so that pricing information and
"best buy" brands can be viewed by the users.
