Anderson News/W.H. Smith
Return Audit System

Anderson News is America's leading sales and marketing force for books and magazines and supplies these products to many retail stores across the nation, including W.H. Smith. Anderson News needed to supply W.H. Smith stores with a system to create returns for their products.

System Highlights:

  • High-tech product return system
  • Printing via cordless printer
  • Very easy to use
  • Low cost per user

Have you ever wondered how it is that the latest periodicals are always on the shelves at W.H Smith stores located in most major airports? Anderson News supplies W.H. Smith stores and is responsible for keeping their inventory up to date. The return audit system allows them to quickly scan out of date products which will be returned or disposed of. The user can then print out a record of all of the products being returned to leave with the store for their records.

Anderson News decided to utilize the power and cost-effectiveness of Symbol's entry level Palm Powered scanner, the SPT 1550. This was matched up with the SiPix A6 thermal printer to complete the system. These devices allow cordless printing via the built-in infrared communication ports.
